Gao Zengli

Painter

Born in 1964, Gao ZENGLI lives and works in Paris since 1998. His work traces its visual and emotional experiences of the past in China. Each work can be defined as a dialogue between his own story and his country. A world that continues to confuse the antiquated traditions and contemporary events. These artworks are lying sculptures, paintings made with porcelain and oil painting.
Symbol of ancient Chinese culture, porcelain is initially destroyed by the artist and assembled in pieces on the canvas. Then paint and material blend and become common support between illusion and reality.

Gao ZENGLI creates a fragmented space between intimate collective memories and rebuilds a mosaic of his memory, to remember.
